After playing independantly in bands which were starting to fragment and disband the four musicians decided to get together for a jam session which turned out to be a turning point. Instantly there was a chemistry and from that moment onward the band RISE was formed from the ashes of 'A Friend Of Carol', 'Soma' and 'The Open Hand' .
Rick, Simon and Laurie had worked together on past projects but this was the first time the four which would include Rob would come together and create the sound unique to RISE.
It's been a long hard slog and the material has evolved somewhat but it still remains intense and satisfying. The pulsing rhythm created by Laurie and Rick bathed in a frenzy of guitar from Simon that at times shrinks to a delicate melody only to erupt into a wall of sound which inturn is punctuated by Rob's mesmerising vocal, each song telling a tale and painting a picture in the minds of the listener.
As well as having a passion for writing and recording, perfoming the material live is the greatest reward and the bigger the audiance the better. RISE have a massive sound that lends itself well to large venues and Rob's energy takes on a new life working the audiance and inviting them to join in and to be one, with RISE.
